This month's volunteer of the month has been said to be a nice guy who is reliable and always willing to help. Tom Grace was nominated as volunteer of the month by Sgt. Monica Sanchez of the San Diego Sheriff's Department.
Tom has been an important part of the San Diego Sheriff's Santee Station Senior Volunteer Patrol for over 20 years. During this period, he served as the Senior Volunteer Patrol Administrator for three years and the Assistant Administrator for more than eleven years.
Tom has always been the "go to" guy for coordinating Santee Station Volunteer support of numerous special event activities such as the Santee 4th of July Fireworks, the Mother Goose Parade, the Lakeside Western Days Parade, managing the annual Santee Station Senior Volunteers can be of assistance.
He also serves as a patrol shift scheduler. Tom is a past recipient of the city of Santee Volunteer of the Year award. This extraordinary volunteer routinely exceeds the minimum commitment contribution of six hours per week by working two or three patrol shifts per week as well as special events.
In 1997, Tom was a founding member of the Santee Station Senior Volunteer Elite Team, responding 365 days a year with the command post motor home in support of the San Diego County Sheriff Department's Homicide Detail.
Tom Grace is, and has always been, the person to step up when help is needed. Congratulations Tom and thank you for your valuable commitment to your community!
