Our May VOM, Jimme Kaye "Jake" Quinn, was nominated by CHP Oceanside. She has been a volunteer since 2011 and was quick to assume extra duties on top of her regular shift assignments. Jake was instrumental in reorganization and upgrading the Senior Volunteer Manuals, which required tedious research on her part.
Because of her professional efforts as Special Events Coordinator, the department was able to successfully put on 53 events over the past 2 years. She also volunteered to organize and catalog the Senior Volunteer Uniform Locker, ensuring that uniforms were cleaned, gagged and ready to for redistribution. This process saved the unit several thousand dollars since new uniforms did not have to be purchased.
Jake organized the first annual Senior Volunteer picnic, which was a huge success. She also took on the time consuming task of shift scheduler. This activity requires coordination with all members to determine their availability and the flexibility to accommodate last minute changes. Jake was able to manage the task in a superb manner, with very little conflict. Jake also volunteered with the Vista Fire Department, Navy Marine Corps Relief Society, and at the Oceanside Senior Center as an AARP tax aide.
Jake was also recently recognized as 2017 Senior Volunteer of the Year with CHP. Her enthusiasm and positive demeanor are infectious and she is an example for all in her unit. Congratulations Jake and thank you for your outstanding service to the community.
